Chapter 418 - 411: He Didn’t Come Himself, Nor Did He Send Anyone?
His lips parted slightly as he was about to speak, but just then, Clara Grant’s phone rang. He had no choice but to swallow his words.
Clara Grant set down her spoon and picked up her phone. It was a WeChat notification.
The name on the screen was Rhys Ryston. She quickly opened the message. After reading it, she looked up at Seth Quinn happily. "Ryston said she’s coming back to Novaria next week and will get in touch with me then."
"Ryston?" Seth Quinn asked, clearly distracted.
"Rhys Ryston. The one Brother Sterling is so anxious to meet," Clara said while texting back. "You can tell him, by the way. Let him know he doesn’t need to worry anymore."
Seth Quinn nodded, watching her text back and forth with Rhys Ryston. After a long moment, he finally lowered his head and went back to eating his porridge.
...
After they finished the porridge, Clara Grant was in a hurry to get to Sarah Shelby’s, while Seth Quinn was heading to his company.
Since it was out of his way, Clara Grant insisted he not drive her and hailed a cab herself.
When she rang the doorbell, Sarah Shelby opened it, looking a little listless. She seemed surprised to see Clara, her eyes widening. "Clara? What are you doing here?"
"What, not happy to see me?"
"Of course I am! Get in here." As Sarah Shelby spoke, she craned her neck to look both ways outside the door, but there was no sign of Seth Quinn.
Clara stepped inside, asking in confusion, "What are you looking for?"
Sarah Shelby closed the door and followed her in. Instead of answering, she asked with a mysterious air, "Hey, Clara, isn’t your man Seth Quinn shadowing you 24/7? He didn’t come himself or even send one of his guys?"
"Why would he follow me?" Clara found Sarah’s expression amusing.
"He’s afraid you’ll disappear again! You have no idea, he was going crazy with worry when he couldn’t find you yesterday." ’Even though I didn’t see him, I could tell just from his voice over the phone.’
Clara’s face flushed. "We’re fine now," she said. "The misunderstanding has been cleared up."
"So, you two made up? You’re not trying to break up with him anymore?" Sarah Shelby asked, grinning teasingly at her.
"Did I... make a scene yesterday?" Clara asked, a bit uncomfortable. ’If Sarah says I made a scene, then I guess I really did.’
"Of course. When you were at The Tuberose, you were crying and screaming that you two had already broken up," Sarah Shelby continued to tease. "Clara, I always thought you just passed out when you got drunk. I had no idea you could cause such a ruckus before you were completely out of it, haha..."
After a few laughs, she suddenly leaned in close, her expression turning serious. "So, tell me. Did you keep the drama going when you got back? How did it go down? Did the fight end up in bed?"
Clara shot her a helpless glance and replied, "It did end up in bed. How else was I supposed to get to sleep?"
’According to Seth Quinn, she had passed out back at The Tuberose.’
"Tch, just sleeping? How boring!" The excitement vanished from Sarah Shelby’s face as she flopped back against the sofa.
Clara’s expression grew serious. She looked at her friend and asked, "Sarah, did you go see Autumn Shelby yesterday?"
"I did." Sarah wasn’t surprised that Clara knew, nor did she plan on hiding it.
"Weren’t you just asking for trouble by going to see her? Did they do anything to you?" Clara chided her, full of worry.
"Ahem, what do you think? I just got slapped a couple of times." Sarah Shelby pointed to one side of her face with a nonchalant air. "But it’s not like Autumn Shelby got off easy."
