Chapter 699 - 559: The Eldest Miss Has Been Driven Mad! (2)
"Figure it out yourself!"
Fang Han gave Ning Xian a cold snort, grabbed her bag, and stomped in her high heels—clack, clack, clack—to the door, yanked it open with an imposing air, and walked out.
She was a full 1.68 meters tall, and ever since she was little Ning Xian had raised and pampered her with the utmost care.
Even if right now her face only had a layer of ghastly pale base makeup on it, just looking at her back as she walked off in that pink silk robe, she was still fair-skinned, pretty, long-legged, and carried an astonishing aura when she walked.
Seeing her daughter carry on like that, Ning Xian was naturally furious.
But as she watched her daughter stride off, she quickly thought of what she’d said to her before they came, and hurriedly chased after her. "Where are you going? Your makeup isn’t even done yet!"
Fang Han walked off without so much as a backward glance.
That left Ning Xian even more stifled with anger, yet there was nothing she could do. She could only pace back and forth in the room, thinking about what on earth to do about this.
In the end, she pulled out her phone and called her son. "Where are you?"
"I’m upstairs." It was Fang Han’s wedding today. Even though Fang Huai couldn’t really help with much, he didn’t dare run too far, so he’d opened a room upstairs to play games while waiting for the family to call him if they needed anything.
"Do you know what time it is and you’re still playing games!" Already fuming, Ning Xian heard the mechanical AI sound effects coming from the other end of the line and instantly got even angrier.
Her anger made her vision swim and her blood pressure rise. She only felt that these two children she’d given birth to were here to collect debts; not a single one let her worry less.
The more she thought, the angrier she got. In the end she just unloaded on Fang Huai over the phone, scolding him so fiercely that he sat there completely dumbfounded.
But from his mom’s rage-filled words, he could tell that the reason she was throwing such a huge fit wasn’t because he was playing games at all, but because something had pissed her off with his sister.
So he hurriedly muted the computer in front of him.
Then Fang Huai said to Ning Xian, utterly speechless, "Mom, you’re mad because of my sister, so why are you taking it out on me? I’m really innocent, okay? I’ve obediently stayed in the hotel these two days, haven’t gone anywhere, just waiting for you guys to tell me what to do. I only just booted up to play a couple of rounds ’cause there was nothing going on. Calm down and just tell me what you want me to do. I’ll come down right now."
"Then hurry down. Now. Immediately!" After venting her anger on her son, Ning Xian finally felt a bit better.
...
Fang Huai quickly came down from his single room upstairs to the presidential suite where his sister was staying.
As soon as he came in, he saw his "Supreme Ruler" mom sitting on the sofa with a dark face, staring at him as he entered, and his heart instantly trembled.
Sitting on the sofa, the anger that had just subsided flared up again as soon as Ning Xian saw her son sneak in like a thief. "What are you sneaking around for? If you’re coming in, then come in. Close the door."
Fang Huai grinned, closed the door, and jogged over to his mom. He started gently and considerately pounding her shoulders. "Mom, how was I sneaking around? I just saw you weren’t happy and was afraid of disturbing you, that’s all."
Compared to her capable, successful daughter who always strutted around and talked back to her, and her useless son who never achieved anything but also never pulled a face or lost his temper at her, Ning Xian honestly didn’t know which of the two was more infuriating.
With another sigh from the depths of her heart—"children are all debts"—she half-closed her eyes, enjoying her son’s service, while saying to him, "Didn’t you always have a good relationship with Youyou since you were little? Today your sister heard that she’s not coming to the wedding and she’s really disappointed and a bit mad, so look..."
In a gentle tone, Ning Xian discussed it with Fang Huai. "Your sister is only getting married this once in her life. Her biggest wish is for all the family to attend her wedding and see her off in grand style. Now even this one wish can’t be fulfilled just because your cousin is too busy with work to come. Tell me, as her mother, how am I supposed to feel okay about that?"
The hands Fang Huai was using to knead Ning Xian’s shoulders paused. In his heart, he already understood why his mom had called him over, but he still said, "Didn’t my sister’s wish already come true? Isn’t our whole family here?"
"You child!" Ning Xian raised her hand and smacked the hand he had resting on her shoulder. "Are you really not getting it, or are you pretending not to?"
"How am I not getting it?" Fang Huai played dumb. "Youyou-jie is too busy to come, but Uncle and Aunt specially flew back early from the capital. And they brought such a big gift for my sister. Isn’t that enough to make her happy?"
