Chapter 450: Myskina Asie
Chapter 450: Myskina Asie
Myskina Asie felt the pressure coming from Brook. Truth be told, when he first started researching and creating Pure Gold, besides saving his terminally ill daughter, becoming a world-famous scientist had been one of his original goals too!
Handing over his research results just like that felt a bit unwilling. After all, these pieces of Pure Gold had been created by him and his wife under a stroke of luck, and a lot of the data hadn’t even been recorded. Back then, even they didn’t know how they’d stumbled into making it.
He’d been trying to replicate the steps to create Pure Gold again, but over a hundred years had passed, and he still hadn’t succeeded.
In other words, this Pure Gold might be his only masterpiece.
Without the Pure Gold, his dream of making a name for himself across the seas would never come true.
Ever since he’d been stranded in the belly of the Lantern Fish, he’d had to leave the lab regularly to scavenge for food just to survive. He’d even disguised himself in dinosaur skin, pretending to be a dinosaur’s offspring, carefully stealing "free" prey from the dinosaur mothers.
To keep the Pure Gold safe, he’d set up tons of traps around the lab where it was stored, just in case any other humans got swallowed by the Lantern Fish and tried to steal his greatest creation—Pure Gold!
Now, hearing that these outsiders had news about his daughter, Myskina Asie was overjoyed. But the idea of handing over the Pure Gold still made him resistant deep down.
"Pure Gold? What Pure Gold? What is this ’Pure Gold’ you’re talking about, sir?"
Myskina Asie put on a puzzled look with his chubby face, staring at Brook in confusion, acting like he had no clue what was going on.
Crackle!
A bolt of lightning shot into Myskina Asie’s knee, making the blond scientist cry out in pain as he dropped to his knees, then collapsed, clutching his foot and screaming, his face turning pale in an instant.
"Captain Brook, I’ve got the route to the lab memorized. We don’t need this guy!"
Redfield watched the scientist’s pathetic lying act with a blank expression, then turned respectfully to Brook.
"Yo ho ho, Asie, people who aren’t honest and lack self-awareness tend to die pretty quick!"
Brook casually stepped over Asie and followed Redfield toward the lab. The reason he hadn’t just used the Seven Star Sword to control him was to keep his mind independent—maybe he could figure out how to recreate Pure Gold.
The crew members behind him dragged Asie along, following Brook’s lead, and they didn’t hesitate to kick the scientist a few times for daring to deceive their captain.
Myskina Asie was shocked as he watched these outsiders head straight for his lab. Weren’t they new here? How did they know where his lab was?
"Spare me, sir! I’ll lead you there. There are traps—if you’re not careful, the Pure Gold could get destroyed. Please, give me back my daughter~"
Asie knew he couldn’t protect the Pure Gold from these pirates anymore. He’d have to settle for the next best thing: get his daughter back first. As long as they were alive, there’d be hope to recreate Pure Gold someday.
"Just a minor issue!"
Redfield said again. He’d already seen all the traps this guy had set up in his memories—he could handle them no problem.
"You heard him, Asie. If you don’t prove your worth, your fate will be grim, and so will your daughter’s!
My science team is pretty strong right now. If you can show you’re even better, I could make you famous worldwide." Brook threatened. For someone with sneaky thoughts like this, he had plenty of ways to keep Asie in line—help him find his daughter and boost him to fame as a scientist, and he’d work loyally for Brook.
"I’ll join you! Please let my daughter go. I’ll research Pure Gold again someday, sir. I beg you, spare our lives!"
Myskina Asie had given in. This stranger seemed to know everything about him—there was no way to fool him.
At Brook’s signal, Myskina Asie was released and led the way back to the lab to retrieve the Pure Gold.
Brook wanted to preserve this lab that had once created Pure Gold as much as possible. Who knows, maybe they could make it a second time. He’d have Golden Lion Shiki float it back later!
Under Myskina Asie’s guidance, the group headed straight for the Pure Gold lab. Before they even got inside, Golden Lion Shiki came flying back, carrying a little blonde girl.
The blonde girl was still struggling, her mouth seemingly yelling curses, her face full of frustration!
"Take my Elizabeth too, you jerk!"
Myskina Olga flailed her short arms and legs wildly, but it had zero effect on Golden Lion Shiki. At most, her foul-mouthed little mouth made Shiki tempted to toss her into the sea of stomach acid.
"Olga!!"
Myskina Asie saw that familiar figure and immediately teared up. Sure, Pure Gold was important, but right now, he realized his daughter mattered more!
"Hey, you fatso, you look kinda like my jerk dad!"
Olga stared at the chubby man with short golden hair in front of her, not recognizing him at first. The change was just too drastic.
"Olga, it’s me—Dad!"
Asie tried squishing his face to look slimmer. Over the past hundred years, posing as a baby dragon among various dinosaur families, he’d been eating nothing but meat and had unknowingly packed on a few extra pounds.
"You’re my jerk dad? Hmph!!"
Olga didn’t want anything to do with him. After she’d been diagnosed with the terminal illness, her jerk dad had been obsessed with researching Pure Gold and never spent time with her. Even her mom had joined him, pouring all their energy into Pure Gold and ignoring their dying daughter.
From then on, Olga felt like her father didn’t care about her at all. She hated him. And then, the Pure Gold he’d made attracted the Lantern Fish.
In that disaster, so many residents of Alchemi Island died, including her mother, which made her hate and resent her father even more.
It was all his fault for researching Pure Gold—that’s what caused everything!
"Olga~"
Seeing his daughter ignore him and turn her back, Asie felt a lump in his throat and a heavy heart. Back then, in his rush to create Pure Gold in time to save her, he’d indeed neglected her for too long.
Brook ignored the awkward father-daughter drama and had Redfield lead the way forward. He needed to secure the Pure Gold first!
Myskina Asie, seeing this, had to set aside his issues with Olga for now and hurry ahead to guide them. He had to keep these pirates happy—his and his daughter’s lives depended on it. Only then could they survive!
